Prison AU. After stabbing his roommate to death, Donut has been sentenced to life and locked in prison.
As if the fact that he's going to be locked away for at least twenty years isn't enough, he's locked in with conmen, blackmailers and murderers. Right away he's roped into the fighting between the inmates. And on top of all that, his jumpsuit is incredibly itchy.
Prison is going to be tough, especially if Donut wants to live long enough to get parole and see the outside again.
Also includes 'flashback' chapters concerning the main six inmates and how they got locked up.

Soldiering, while conducive to exciting action sequences in the realm of machinima, tends to make for rather tedious reading, as anyone who’s endured a Gears of War novel can attest. I mean, honestly, in book form, all that action just gets bogged down by the cumbersomeness of the English language. It’s not like the soldiering was the important part of the series.
RvB, I need not reiterate, was brilliant for its wit and characters, not it’s paper-thin, swiss-cheese plot or its occasional action sequences. And since television is 50% reality TV and 50% police/court procedurals, there were really only two workable options to cop from for this AU. So instead of grown men standing around discussing snack cakes as soldiers, you get grown men discussing snack cakes…as lawyers.
Because really, these guys could fuck up any profession. And still deliver some really zippy one-liners.
